After suffering a head injury earlier in the week which left him motionless on the field for a short period of time, Tennessee has dismissed redshirt senior Danny O’Brien from the team. His dismissal comes as a result of a violation of undisclosed team rules.
A release from the university states that the dismissal is in no way related to the injury he sustained in last weeks game.
O’Brien was released from the hospital later that day and was allowed to fly back with the team. Despite the dismissal, the university has stated that it will cover any medical costs incurred relating to the injury.
After being carted off the field, O’Brien released a statement social media saying he was alright.
Thank you for all the thoughts and prayers. I appreciate all the support. I'll be all good. #BeatBama

In his career at Tennessee, O’Brien played in 42 games and recorded 63 tackles with four sacks.
