The injury bug has reportedly struck the LSU football program yet again. Reports have surfaced that LSU starting safety Rickey Jefferson has suffered a broken ankle. It is believed the injury would end his season, according to the New Orleans Times-Picayune.
After the Baton Rouge Advocate reported Jefferson “suffered a serious leg injury at practice Wednesday and will miss significant time,” the defensive back tweeted:
LSU has yet to address the injury.
This season, the veteran Jefferson has started in every game for the Tigers.
In the absence of Jefferson, senior Dwayne Thomas and junior John Battle are expected to split time.
This week, LSU returns to action by playing host to the 4-2 Southern Miss Golden Eagles in Baton Rouge. Kickoff is set for 7:30 p.m. ET on the SEC Network.
