UNC’s Theo Pinson out ‘indefinitely’ with fractured foot

With the start of the 2016-17 college basketball season just around the corner, the UNC basketball team received some very bad news. The Tar Heels announced junior forward Theo Pinson is out indefinitely with a fractured foot.

UNC announced the news in a press release on Friday.

“I’m so disappointed for Theo,” says Tar Heel head coach Roy Williams. “Number one, he’s been playing well and he does so many positive things for our team. Theo’s our energy guy, he defends, he’s our best passer, a threat on the offensive boards, he can play four different positions, and he gives our team personality, and I mean that in a good way. Hopefully we can get him back before the end of the season, but we have not met with all the medical personnel yet so there is no timetable for when he can play again.”

The Tar Heels open the season on Nov. 4 and there is no word on when Pinson will be able to return to the lineup so UNC will likely be without a key player for the foreseeable future.

Last season, Pinson averaged 4.5 points, 3.2 rebounds, and 2.9 assists per game.
