Ex-Mizzou QB Maty Mauk may seek sixth year of eligibility

Maty Mauk’s whirlwind of a college football career isn’t over yet.

After off-field issues left to Mauk leaving Missouri, he landed at Eastern Kentucky. Unfortunately, Mauk has been plagued by injuries (a shoulder injury and a concussion) and is expected to miss the remainder of the year.

As a result, Mauk’s head coach said the signal-caller may apply for a sixth-year of eligibility.

“Anytime a senior in his final year of eligibility has a season-ending injury, you are going to examine (the situation) to see if there is an opportunity for him to get that year back,” Mark Elder told the Richmond Register.

“You feel for these guys when they put so much into it. They’ve invested a ton throughout their entire life into this sport.”

It will all come down to whether the redshirt Mauk took as a true freshman at Missouri was due to his injury or health.
