Heisman Trophy odds 2016: Lamar Jackson extends lead

Since the opening month of the season, Louisville Cardinals star quarterback Lamar Jackson has been leading the Heisman Trophy race. There was some belief that he could eventually slow down from his historic start, but that has not been the case.

Now, here we are nearing the final weeks of the college football season and Jackson remains the odds-on favorite to bring home the most prestigious award in the sport.

Following last weekend’s wild action which saw the No. 2, No. 3 and No. 4 teams in the nation all fall, Jackson has extended his lead.

On Monday, the Westgate Las Vegas SuperBook released its latest Heisman Trophy odds (picutred above) which have Jackson as the clear front-runner at 1-50 odds. Far behind Jackson is Michigan star Jabrill Peppers, who sits at 15-1 odds.

Clemson’s Deshaun Watson and Ohio State’s JT Barrett remain in the mix, but they have a lot of work to do in the next couple of weeks if they hope to top Jackson’s unbelievable season.

This season, Jackson has thrown for 2,898 yards, 27 touchdowns and just six interceptions. If that wasn’t impressive enough, the sophomore sensation has added 1,334 yards and 19 scores on the ground.

It would be a huge surprise if Jackson does not claim the award in New York later this year.
