Devon Allen leaves Oregon football team to pursue pro track career

Devon Allen has left the Oregon football team to pursue another career path.

After suffering his second season-ending knee injury earlier this year, Allen has decided to step away from football in order to pursue a professional career in track and field.

Over the summer, Allen represented the United States in the 2016 Rio Olympics in the 110m hurdles. Allen finished fifth in the finals.

By pursuing a professional track career, Allen forgoes the remainder of his college eligibility.

Allen’s most outstanding season as a Duck came as a freshman, when he recorded 41 catches for 684 yards and seven touchdowns. Unfortunately, injuries limited the rest of Allen’s career and severely hindered his development.

The speedster’s college career ends with 54 catches for 919 yards and eight scores.
