There was a scary moment on the field during Saturday night’s game between the USC Trojans and Notre Dame Fighting Irish.
Referee Ron Cherry was helped off the field after being involved in a brutal collision with USC linebacker Michael Hutchings. Hutchings’ momentum carried him in the direction of Cherry, before he completely unintentionally made contact with his helmet right to Cherry’s head.
Cherry immediately fell to the ground and was unconscious.

Notre Dame’s training staff immediately came to Cherry’s aid, before helping him off the field and to the locker room. Hopefully Cherry is okay and he can make a full and speedy recovery.
The Trojans currently hold a 17-point lead over the Fighting Irish, 38-21, entering the fourth quarter on ABC.
