Michigan fined $10,000 over Jim Harbaugh’s referee criticism

Following Saturday’s double-overtime loss to the Ohio State Buckeyes, Michigan head coach Jim Harbaugh went on an epic post-game rant blasting the referees.

Now, Harbaugh and the Wolverines must face the consequences.

On Monday afternoon, the Big Ten publicly reprimanded Harbaugh for his comments, while Michigan faces a stiffer punishment. Per the conference, the university has been fined $10,000 for violating the Big Ten Sportsmanship Policy.

The Big Ten’s statement on the matter can be seen below:

It wasn’t not the end to the regular season that Michigan had hoped for, falling to 10-2 on the year, but they still remain in position for a quality bowl game and an outside shot at the College Football Playoff.

For now, they must sit back and wait to see what the selection committee decides on where they will play in the postseason.
