On Saturday, the Oklahoma Sooners topped the Oklahoma State Cowboys to clinch their second straight Big 12 Championship. However, after the game the team received some additional good news.
Following the game, star quarterback Baker Mayfield confirmed he will be returning for his senior year in Norman rather than entering his name for the 2017 NFL Draft.
“I’ll be here another year for a three-peat,” Mayfield said after the game. “The ultimate goal is to play for a national championship.”

Mayfield, who has been in the Heisman conversation since taking the field for Oklahoma following his transfer from Texas Tech, finished his 2016 regular season campaign with 3,381 yards, 35 touchdowns and eight interceptions. He added six scores on the ground.
It’s safe to say Oklahoma’s offense will be in the hands of a very capable signal-caller in 2017.
