USF’s Willie Taggart, Boise State’s Bryan Harsin meet with Oregon A.D.

Oregon appears to be making a push to hire a new coach. Today, Athletic Director Rob Mullens met with both Willie Taggart of USF and Boise State’s Bryan Harsin.

Taggart separated himself as a favorite earlier this week and appears the likeliest candidate.

While at the helm of the USF program, they have seen tremendous growth. Taggart led them to their first 10-win season in program history and was able to get them in the AP Top 25 since 2011 under Skip Holtz.

Harsin has find equal success at Boise State. Inhereting a program that was already thriving, they have had continued success under his watch.

In his first season, they were Fiesta Bowl winners and Poinsettia Bowl winners in his second. However, he has fielded a team that was good enough to be ranked in the AP Polls only once at the end of the season.

The Broncos went 10-2 this season, but failed to make the Mountain West Conference championship.

Both would inherit a program that needs to be turned around quickly. The Ducks were 4-8 this season and fired coach Mark Helfrich as a result. Phil Knight is getting old and wants to win now.
