Duke basketball fans chant for Harry Giles in return from surgery

Duke fans finally got a look at Harry Giles against Tennessee State. Giles, the No. 2 ranked prospect in the country coming into this season has missed time this season following arthroscopic surgery.

Duke fans are hopping his presence on the court will lead to a spark for the Blue Devils on both sides of the ball.

Giles is expected to be the final piece of Duke’s National Championship winning puzzle. There is little doubt that his athleticism and abilities are up to par and capable of returning Duke to it’s familiarly high heights, but questions linger about his durability. Now with two major knee surgeries under his belt (at his knees, to be exact) at only the age of 18, there may be some incentive to shed some weight.

Currently, Giles is an imposing 6-foot-10, 240 pounds; his combination of power, speed and size are what make him so difficult to contain on the court.

If he reduces one, it may reduce his effectiveness and dynamism. Tonight’s debut is the beginning of what he will need to be a historic and meteoric rise to the top of NBA Big Boards at the end of the season.
