Tennessee to honor late Nebraska punter Sam Foltz in bowl game

The Tennessee football team will be honoring late Nebraska punter Sam Foltz when the Vols and Cornhuskers meet in the Music City Bowl on Friday afternoon.

Foltz, who passed away in a car accident on July 23 alongside former Michigan State punter Mike Sadler, has been honored by Nebraska opponents all season long. In the season finale, the Vols will follow suit by honoring Foltz’s memory with a “SF27” helmet decal.

Tennessee shared the helmet decal on social media:

It’s a great gesture and shows the incredible respect the programs have for each other.

And Tennessee isn’t the only team making a great tribute on Friday. Nebraska previously announced they would be wearing a “Mountain Strong” helmet decal to honor victims of the Gatlinburg wildfire in Tennessee.

Kickoff between the No. 24 Cornhuskers and Volunteers at Nissan Stadium in Nashville is set for 3:30 p.m. ET on ESPN.
