A Sun Bowl referee made one of the best defensive plays of the year on Friday afternoon.
Late in the second quarter between UNC and Stanford, the umpire ran into a scrambling Mitch Trubisky and stripped the ball from the Tar Heels quarterback.
Stanford jumped on the ball for the recovery and eventually scored three points off the turnover to take a 13-7 halftime lead.
Are we sure the umpire isn’t a Cardinal fan?

While it was an unfortunate turnover for the Tar Heels, Stanford will surely take any advantage they can get.
After entering the game without star running back Christian McCaffrey, who is focusing on his NFL Draft preparations, the Cardinal watched starting quarterback Keller Chryst get carted off the field earlier in the game with an apparent knee injury.
