Alabama opens as 7-point favorite over Clemson in national championship game

For the second season in a row, the Alabama Crimson Tide and Clemson Tigers will be facing off in the College Football Playoff final to determine the national champion.

Clemson will be looking for redemption after falling to the Crimson Tide 45-40 a year ago, and they will once again have to do so as underdogs.

After the Tigers delivered a 31-0 shellacking of Ohio State in the Fiesta Bowl on Saturday night, the initial betting line for the national title game was set and Alabama has opened as a seven-point favorite, according to Westgate Superbook.

The over-under for the game has been set at 54.5 points.

The College Football Playoff National Championship will take place on Monday, Jan. 9 at Raymond James Stadium in Tampa, Florida. Kickoff between the No. 1 Crimson Tide and No. 2 Tigers is set for 8 p.m. ET on ESPN.
