During the 2016 college football season, video of Oklahoma running back Joe Mixon violently striking a woman during an incident in 2014 surfaced. The disgusting video led to plenty of public outrage, and Auburn fans were definitely not going to let Mixon forget about his actions.
Mixon was playing in his first game since the video was released on Monday night in the Sugar Bowl, when the Tigers faithful showered Mixon with a certain chant.
As the clock was winding down in the first half with the Oklahoma offense and Mixon on the field, a “he hits women” chant rang from the crowd loud and clear.
As the chant was coming down, Mixon and Sooners quarterback Baker Mayfield were responding to the crowd.
While it is possible the Oklahoma players were trying to pump up their own fans to drown out the chant, others watching the game on home took the gestures the wrong way.
Think about that for a second. Auburn fans were chanting "he hits women" at Joe Mixon and Mixon encouraged them to get louder. Disgusting.
