Teen, mom under arrest in Missouri State player's death

A teenager and his mother are under arrest for the shooting death of a Missouri State football player, according to reports.
18-year-old Richard J. Nelson, who was a freshman last season at Missouri State, was attempting to stop a fight involving his sister in Las Vegas. According to witnesses, Nelson attempted to pull someone away from his sister before the shooting took place.
A 17-year-old suspect has been jailed on suspicion of murder with a deadly weapon.
The suspect’s mother, 37-year-old Tianna Thomas, is being held on a suspicion of accessory to murder charge for allegedly driving her son away from the scene of the shooting.
