NFL Executive Would Be 'Shocked' If Mitch Trubisky Isn't First QB Drafted

It’s that time of year when the NFL Draft hot takes are popping up left and right.
One of the hottest topics of discussion has been that of the quarterbacks, with no clear cut No. 1 as we prepare to enter the heart of draft season with the NFL Scouting Combine just around the corner.
The latest nugget of news comes from Albert Breer of, who says an AFC executive would be “shocked” if UNC’s Mitch Trubisky is not the first quarterback selected.
From Breer’s report:

“I’ll be shocked if Trubisky’s not the first one off the board,” said our AFC exec. A scout for another AFC team added, “You’re gonna see the ascension of the Carolina quarterback. He’s the guy, a Top 2 or 3 pick. He’s the guy. … A lot of teams like him up there.”

There are some concerns over Trubisky’s height and the fact that he was only able to win the starting job in his final year, but his ceiling is impressive and there are plenty of things to like about his ability on the field.
When it’s all said and done, either Trubisky, Clemson’s Deshaun Watson, Notre Dame’s Deshone Kizer or even Patrick Mahomes of Texas Tech could end up as QB1.
Only time will tell, but it will certainly be fun to watch.
