With the NC State basketball program in turmoil, North Carolina coach Roy Williams has rubbed some salt in the wounds of the Wolfpack faithful.
Williams revealed on Friday that while he was coaching at Kansas from 1988-2003 that he was offered the head coaching job by the Wolfpack on two occasions.
Of course, he turned it down.
Roy says he was called and offered the job at State … a long time ago. Twice, he says, when he was at Kansas.

The NC State job is once again available, with the Wolfpack announcing Mark Gottfried will be fired at the end of the season.
Maybe NC State will give it another whirl and go after Roy Williams again. Or perhaps they should save themselves any further embarrassment. As it currently stands, they’re already going to have a difficult time finding a replacement for Gottfried with many viewing the job unfavorably.
