Report: Creighton's Maurice Watson Investigated For Sexual Assault

Earlier this week, the Creighton basketball program announced guard Maurice Watson had been suspended for an unspecified violation of team rules.
Today, there is some clarity on why the suspension occurred.
According to a report from the Omaha World-Herald, Watson is being investigated by police for a sexual assault that took place earlier this month. Though he has not been charged with any crime at this point, Watson has been accused of sexually assaulting a female student at the university.
Watson has been out of action since suffering a season-ending knee injury on Jan. 16.
At the time of his injury, the senior guard was leading the nation in assists. He was averaging 12.9 points, 2.6 rebounds and 8.5 assists per game.
Without Watson in the lineup, the Bluejays are 4-5.
Creighton returns to action on Saturday, Feb. 25 against the defending national champion Villanova Wildcats.
Tip-off is set for 3 p.m. ET on FOX.
