UNC basketball coach Roy Williams is speaking out on Wednesday night’s incident between Louisville head coach Rick Pitino and a Tar Heels fan.
During halftime of last night’s game, Pitino got into a heated altercation with a UNC fan. Pitino was eventually restrained.
Williams shared his thoughts on the incident and made it clear there is no place for that at the Dean E. Smith Center.
“We’re North Carolina,” Williams said, via Andrew Carter of The News and Observer. “We don’t have to be like everybody else. I hope that never happens again at North Carolina.”
For what it is worth, the incident occurred between Pitino and an adult, not a student at the university.
UNC went on to win the game, 74-63.
The Tar Heels return to action on Saturday with a road trip to Pitt, while Louisville hosts Syracuse on Sunday.
