Playing basketball is likely the last thing on Maurice Watson Jr.’s mind right now.
The 23-year old Creighton guard turned himself in to authorities in Omaha after a warrant was issued for his arrest. After spending Sunday in county jail, he appeared in court on Monday where the judge set his bond at $750,000
Watson Jr. is accused of forcing a 19-year old woman into the bathroom and raping her.
The victim said that Watson forced “non-consensual, sexual intercourse” around 3 AM on Feb. 4. After the warrant was issued for his arrest, Watson’s whereabouts were unknown until the police expressed concerns that he was dodging law enforcement. He turned himself in to authorities one hour later.

Following the announcement by law enforcement, Watson was banned from both Creighton University athletics and the university as a whole. He claims he was never dodging police and was making the trek back to Omaha from his hometown of Philadelphia. He claims that due to the tear in his ACL which he is rehabbing, he was unable to spend long periods of time in the car, thus delaying his arrival in Omaha.
Watson Jr. vigorously maintains his innocence and intends to fight the charges in court. The defense has requested that he be put on GPS tracking so that he can return to Philadelphia and continue his rehab.
