There was a terrifying injury during Thursday’s La Liga clash between Atletico Madrid and Deportivo La Coruna.
Atletico Madrid star Fernando Torres went up for a header when he collided heads with an opponent. Torres was immediately knocked unconscious and crashed to the turf where he lay motionless.
Torres hit his head again on the turf as he came to the ground.
Immediately, players from both sides rushed to Torres’ aid before the medical personnel could get onto the field. Torres was eventually rushed to the hospital.

Following the conclusion of the game, which ended in a 1-1 draw, Atletico Madrid took to social media to provide an update on the star forward’s status.
According to Madrid, Torres is now conscious and in stable condition, but he will remain in the hospital overnight before undergoing further testing on Friday.

The club provided very few details outside of noting the obvious, it was a “head injury.”
