Wichita State Basketball: Shockers Win Fourth MVC Championship

The Wichita State basketball team has punched its ticket to join the madness.
Following a 75-51 victory of Illinois State, the Shockers secured their fourth conference championship and guaranteed themselves a bid for the tournament. Illinois State, meanwhile, lost their fifth consecutive conference championship since 1998.
The Shockers were lead primarily by guard Connor Framkamp and forward Markis McDuffie; the two contributed 19 points and 16 points respectively.
McDuffie poured in 11 of his points from the charity stride, going 11-for-11 from the free-throw line.
Wichita State continues to improve under coach Gregg Marshall, who will now guide them to a sixth consecutive NCAA tournament appearance. This is the second Conference Championship under Marshall, who has also led the team to a Final Four appearance in the 2012-13 season.

The Shockers are hoping to win their first NCAA tournament, but will first have to wait and see how the rest of the field shakes out before they are seeded. Their odds to win the tournament currently sit at 110-to-1.
