The TCU basketball program came away with a huge win during Thursday’s action at the 2017 Big 12 Tournament.
Playing against the No. 1 Kansas Jayhawks, a team the Horned Frogs had never defeated in six previous meetings, TCU managed to pull off the miraculous upset, earning an 85-82 win.
TCU jumped out to a one-point first-half lead, before hanging on to win over the course of the final twenty minutes.
It marks the first conference tournament loss by an AP No. 1 team since Kentucky fell to Vanderbilt in 2012.

It also marked just the second time in the history of Kansas basketball that the Jayhawks were defeated in their opening tournament game.
#Big12MBB: This is only the 2nd time that Kansas has lost in its opening game at the #Big12MBB Championship (2009 – 71-64 loss to Baylor).

TCU now advances to face off against No. 4-seed Iowa State in the semifinals on March 10. Tip-off is set for 7 p.m. ET. If the Horned Frogs can complete their stunning run and win the next two games, they will steal an automatic bid. That’s not what any teams on the bubble want to see.
Kansas, meanwhile, must turn their attention to the NCAA Tournament.
