It didn’t take long to become official. After expressing interest in joining the AAC just a few weeks ago, the Wichita State Shockers have been unanimously voted into the conference.
The Shockers will begin playing in the AAC for the 2017-18 season.
A vote was held on Friday morning to approve Wichita State and an announcement is expected later this afternoon.

The addition of the Shockers gives the AAC 12 basketball members, to go along with its 12 football programs.
While it would be a positive move forward for the Shockers, it would serve as a big blow for the Missouri Valley Conference — which has been Wichita State’s home since 1945.
Wichita State has been a powerhouse in the MVC, winning five of the last six regular season championships. The Shockers have reached the NCAA Tournament for six consecutive years, with one Final Four appearance.
