Jim Harbaugh and the Michigan football program seem to be having the trip of a lifetime in Rome, Italy.
Over the past few days, we’ve been sharing some highlights from the Wolverines’ overseas trip but nothing is going to be able to top Wednesday’s experience for the coaches and players.
Harbaugh and company got to meet face-to-face with Pope Francis and made sure to bring him a little gift.
The Wolverines head coach presented Pope Francis with a pair of Jordan sneakers and a Michigan helmet that featured both the American and Italian flags to commemorate the trip.

The special moment wasn’t lost on Harbaugh, either.
“I’ve never seen my husband at a loss for words,” Harbaugh’s wife, Sarah, said, via Angelique Chengelis of The Detroit News. “I was crying. I was trying to breathe. It was surreal.”
Could you imagine if the Pope decides to start rocking the custom J’s?

It’s a great time to be a member of the Michigan football program and if Harbaugh continues finding ways to take his players on trips that allow them to experience different cultures and important areas of the world, you just may see top recruits continuing to flock to Ann Arbor.
