Chiefs Draft Patrick Mahomes After Trade Up

The Kansas City Chiefs knew who they wanted, and they knew they’d have to trade up to get him.
The Chiefs wanted a quarterback who can sit behind Alex Smith for a few years and learn how to play at the NFL level without being thrust into action. There will be no trial by fire here.
With the 10th overall pick in the 2017 NFL Draft, the Chiefs selected Texas Tech product Patrick Mahomes
It wasn’t the second quarterback everyone thought it would be. The selection likely has Clemson quarterback Deshaun Watson feeling akin to a plantain: salty.
With Watson still on the board, and the Browns due to pick 12th in the draft, it appears they will get the opportunity to select both players at the top of their board: Myles Garret and Deshaun Watson.
As much as you can have a chip on your shoulder while still being taken in the first round of the NFL Draft, Watson can’t be happy with the way thing safe unfolding.
Initially hoping to be taken first overall, Watson has the making of the draft day slide of 2017.
