LSU football coach Ed Orgeron seems to have an idea of who his starting quarterback will be for the Tigers’ 2017 campaign.
This week, Orgeron was speaking to the media when he gave a vote of confidence to fifth-year senior Danny Etling and said he was preparing to enter the season with Etling under center.
Etling is currently recovering from a minor back procedure, but Orgeron expects the quarterback to return full steam ahead.
“Danny’s tough,’’ Orgeron said, via Scott Ferrell of The Shreveport Times. “Danny’s a competitor. I think he’ll be back in four or five weeks throwing the football. I expect him to be the starter. He’s a fifth-year senior. He’s a great young man.’’
Etling will be competing with freshman Myles Brennan, but his experience seems to give him the clear edge.
Last season as a part-time starter, Etling threw for 2,123 yards, 11 touchdowns and just five interceptions.
