DJ Law, a star of the Netflix original series “Last Chance U,” is no longer a member of the UAB football program.
Blazers head coach Bill Clark confirmed the news on Friday.
According to Drew Champlin of AL.com, injuries and academic issues — much like he was facing during the series — plagued his time at UAB and ultimately led to him leaving the program.
“I think his knee is going to be in good shape,” Clark said. “He came in here behind the eight-ball academically. He’s done a solid job. He really just had a lot to overcome.”
UAB is set to return to the field for the first time since the program was temporarily shut down in 2014. Law would have been some star power on the roster, but they will now have to look elsewhere for production.
As for Law, he is reportedly debating whether to play professionally in Canada or joining a school in the NAIA.
