Patrick Beverley Gives Emotional Press Conference About Late Grandfather

Houston Rockets guard Patrick Beverley was playing with a heavy heart this weekend during the team’s Game 4 win over the San Antonio Spurs.
Beverley had a long and emotional night, breaking down in tears in the locker room and during pre-game warmups after learning just before tip-off that his grandfather had passed away.
Beverley played regardless, scoring 10 points and six assists — including the game-opening three-pointer to kickoff the scoring.
After the game, Beverley once again was left in tears.
Beverley was discussing the difficulty of playing with such a heavy heart before beginning to sob while remembering his grandfather.

“Everyone knows I worked extremely hard to prove myself each and every night,” Beverley said, “and to have someone who was right there supporting me the whole way … he wore my jersey every single day of his life. He wore my Russian jersey every single day of his life man.
“To have a person like that being taken away from you is hard, so hard. But you know, there’s a bigger plan. I’m going to keep my faith and, of course, I’m going to be there for my family. But you know, anyone who has had grandparents, mothers, whatever to have them taken away from you is super, super hard.”
Our deepest condolences go out to Beverley and his entire family during this difficult time.
