The Michigan State Spartans will be parting ways with Curtis Blackwell. Blackwell was suspended indefinitely before the team officially decided that it would part ways with the former staff member.
ESPN first reported that the Spartans would officially be moving on.
The exact details surrounding Blackwell’s suspension aren’t known. When he was suspended, MSU athletic director Mark Hollis told Blackwell he was being punished for serious “allegations regarding your conduct.”
His suspension came at around the same time three Michigan State football players were suspended for sexually assaulting a student. The three students who have been suspended were forced to leave their on-campus dorm while the investigation is ongoing.
At this juncture, it is unclear whether criminal charges will be forthcoming.
If charges are filed, it is possible we will learn more about the details that led to Blackwell’s suspension. He was an integral part of recruiting players for the Spartans for coach Mark Dantonio.
