Mr. Met had a rough day following the team’s 7-1 loss to the Milwaukee Brewers on Wednesday night. While Mr. Met was leaving the field, he turned back to the stands and flipped them the bird.
Of course, in today’s day and age, it was captured on video.
That video begin making the rounds on social media and the New York Mets were forced to address the situation, so they issued an apology.
“We apologize for the inappropriate action of this employee,” a brief statement read. “We do not condone this type of behavior. We are dealing with this matter internally.”
According to the Denver Post, the man in the costume has since been removed as an employee.
Here’s video of the incident:

Poor Mr. Met. We all get frustrated from time to time.
But are you ready for a twist?
Mr. Met only has four fingers, so how could he possibly flip anyone the middle finger?

The plot thickens.
Who knows, perhaps the mascot will be able to get his job back on a technicality. And if he did, would we ever really know if the original Mr. Met was the man behind the mask?
While worry about that, the Mets will look to start June with a big win as they cap off their series with the Brewers on Thursday afternoon.
