The Duke basketball program is expecting a lot out of the 2017-18 season.
After pulling in one of the top ranked classes in the country, the roster if loaded with top talent from top to bottom. Add in a number of returning players and Duke appears poised for a big season.
Today, the team decided who will be wearing what number for the upcoming season.
The announcement was made by way of a video they posted on the team Instagram page.
The numbers for all six players:
- Trevon Duval: No. 1
- Gary Trent Jr: No. 2
- Jordan Tucker: No. 5
- Jordan Goldwire: No. 14
- Alex O’Connell: No. 15
- Wendell Carter: No. 34
Among those six players are the seeds of what Duke hopes will be a prosperous, National Championship caliber future. Three of them, Duval, Trent, and Carter, are bonafide stars in the making and five-star recruits.
O’Connell and Tucker are both four star recruits. Goldwire was rated as a three-star recruit out of Norcross, Georgia.
The Blue Devils are looking for a deeper tournament run than what they had last year. They were bounced int he second round, ending a season that was ripe with controversy and disappointment. With the class they have joining the team this fall, they appear to be in much better shape.
