UFC Champ Stipe Miocic Wants A Piece Of Boxing Star Anthony Joshua

At a time when UFC lightweight champion Conor McGregor is angling for a boxing match with Floyd Mayweather, heavyweight title holder Stipe Miocic wants in on the action.

Miocic has previously challenged boxing champ Anthony Joshua, but he recently re-issued that challenge in hopes of a blockbuster crossover fight.

Joshua, who is the IBF, IBO and WBA (Super) heavyweight title holder, is currently preparing for a rematch with Wladimir Klitschko later this year, but that didn’t stop Miocic from issuing another call out during an appearance on the Fight Society podcast.

“He’s a world champ for a reason. It would just be amazing. It would be an amazing opportunity. I would just be so grateful,” Miocic said. “I did Golden Gloves and all that good stuff. I just love the fight. I think it would be a great fight.

“I think people would love to see it.”

Miocic is also very confident in his chances with a potential fight against Joshua.

“Super confident,” Miocic said. “I’m going to go out there and give it all I got. Listen, I’ve got the best coaches in the world and I’d definitely be ready for that fight.”

Whether a fight would ever happen remains to be seen, but it’s certainly an interesting matchup for the die-hard combat sports fan.

Unfortunately, with all of the hang ups we have seen with Conor McGregor and Floyd Mayweather, it seems highly unlikely that a crossover fight would ever come to fruition unless it has an enormous financial pay-off.
