Virginia football player Chuck Davis is $100,000 richer.
During a recent drawing for the Virginia Lottery Cash 5, Davis matched all five numbers to pick up the big cash prize. Davis got his number after an early morning workout and played numbers recommended by his grandmother, according to the local CBS affiliate.
Grandma knows best.
“I looked at the numbers on the website after the drawing and said, ‘I… won!’” he said.
The 5-foot-10, 175-pound defensive back hails from Fairfax, Virginia and sat out the entire 2016 college football season to satisfy NCAA transfer rules. Davis had transferred to the Cavaliers after participating in spring football at Nebraska.
His time with the Cavaliers certainly seems to be off to a hot start.
Virginia kicks off its 2017 campaign on Saturday, Sept. 2 at home against the William & Mary Tribe.
