One of the things that is selling the Floyd Mayweather vs. Conor McGregor fight so effectively is the top notch smack both sides are able to talk.
Their respective abilities to trash talk might be just as good as their ability to fight.
With that in mind, Triple H’s invitation for both of them to appear on WWE Raw makes perfect sense.
He turned to Twitter to make a formal invitation to both fighters.
This isn’t likely to happen. The two have carefully managed their press campaign and are in the midst of a four-city publicity tour. But crazier things have happened, and if they can manage to avoid writing a script that would involve to two fighters actually tangling before the Aug. 26 date, it could happen.
As of now, it seems like a longshot. But what does Triple H have to lose with the invitation? Nothing. On the off-chance that one or both of the fighters accepts his invitation, it would mean a huge ratings spike.
National audiences are eating up anything with Mayweather or McGregor’s name on it right now. Given the over-the-top, braggadocio nature of the WWE, it makes plenty of sense.
Only time will tell if they accept the offer. But don’t count on it. Chances are they have the entire publicity campaign mapped out already, and will adhere to it closely.
