Alabama is always going to be a football school. With the legacy of Bear Bryant, playing in the heart of the football belt, and Nick Saban’s ability to make annual National Championship travel plans, the Crimson Tide love the pigskin.
But their basketball program might be gearing up to make it’s entrance as a viable sideshow.
With an NBA caliber coach in Avery Johnson at the helm of the program for the third year, the Crimson Tide are making strides on the court. Their 2017 recruiting class ranked seventh in the country, and second in the ascending SEC.
The foundation for what could be a potent Alabama team this season was laid on the recruiting trail.
Collin Sexton, John Petty and Alex Reese were the marquee names involved in the haul, and they appear to be impressing only four practices in.
Sexton is a one-man break of course but young wings are athletic (Petty, Jones) and @btwice_11 is slimmer/quicker. Also: @Tmack1k can go.
