Ole Miss Football: Archie Manning Has Full Faith In Matt Luke

The Ole Miss football program will enter the 2017 season with interim head coach Matt Luke at the helm.
Luke is filling in for Hugh Freeze, who resigned from his position as head coach amidst an ongoing investigation that has levied serious charges against the Rebels and the discovery that he used his work phone to dial a number linked to an escort service.
While there is plenty of turmoil surrounding Ole Miss, its interim coach has received a major vote of confidence.
The one and only Archie Manning discussed the Rebels’ current situation and expressed that he has a lot of faith in Luke to do an exceptional job.

“He’s a tough kid,” Manning said, via AJ Giardina of MS News Now.
“He’s really tough. He’s kind of an overachiever in football. Of course, I knew his dad. His dad played up there before I did. His brother, good football player. Great family. Matt’s a lineman. That has a lot to be said for that. I think he’s so well respected by the players, they’re going to play hard for him and the coaches will coach hard for him. Matt is going to do a great job for us.”
Those are exactly the kind of words that you want to hear entering the season after a wild season.
If Luke can living up to Manning’s high expectations, perhaps Rebels fans will be able to put the ugly past behind them and look forward sooner than they imagined.
Ole Miss opens its 2017 campaign on Saturday, Sept. 2 against South Alabama.
