Mesa Community College Football Coach Dies After Bar Fight

An assistant coach for the Mesa Community College football program has passed away.

According to reports, Benjamin McIvor, the defensive line coach and special teams coordinator at MCC, died over the weekend because of injuries that stemmed from a fight outside of a bar.

AZCentral.com had the report.

“We are deeply saddened by the loss of Coach McIvor. Our thoughts are with his family and friends during this most difficult time.” said Matthew Hasson, district spokesman. “Coach McIvor was well-respected by his colleagues and our student athletes and will certainly be missed.”

Heartfelt condolences immediately made their way to the internet after the news surfaced.

McIvor reportedly fell and hit his head during the altercation which resulted in the life-ending injuries.

As a veteran of the coaching scene, McIvor had spent two decades on the sidelines and three seasons with Mesa Community College.

McIvor is survived by his wife and three children.
