When Donald Trump ran for office, he did so largely on the platform that he would cut down significantly on traffic coming across the Mexican-American border. While most of his plan appears to revolve around building a wall (and getting Mexico to pay for it), there is another facet of his proposed measures that would is potentially just as dangerous.
The President intends to increase the number of Immigration and Customs Enforcement officers (ICE) by 25 percent, a massive increase that has proven troublesome in previous attempts to increase border patrol presence.
John Oliver took the opportunity add some clarity and some levity to the proposed increased.
He wasn’t alone either, Arrested Development’s Will Arnett joined him to help put together an unforgettable advertisement for Trump’s recruitment efforts.
Always sharp and to the point, Oliver and his writing team have emerged as one of the foremost voices in today’s comically toxic political environment. Arnett was kind enough to lend his gravely voice to the faux ad.
“The border patrol may not be for you, because a lot of the time the job… is just you, the desert and nothing for miles around,” Arnett quips. “This is a job that can combine hours of boredom with sudden bursts of action.”
Sounds like border patrol is a lot like baseball. Ad starts at 17:25, but the entire segment is worth watching!
