We’ve still got a long way to go until basketball season. But for those of you who already realize that your basketball-program first school will probably finish with a .200-winning percentage this season, here’s something to life your spirits.
On Monday, the Westgate Las Vegas Superbook released their odds for the upcoming college basketball season. File this one away, it’ll be interesting to see how these way, way early odds stack up to the result when March Madness rolls around in more than half a year.
For the most part, it’s the usual suspects at the top of the list.
Kentucky and Duke pace the group with 7/1 odds of cutting down the nets after the grueling March Madness tournament. Perhaps it shouldn’t be a surprise to see Michigan State as high as 8/1 odds following two of the perennial powerhouses in college basketball, but they finish in front of reigning NCAA Champs North Carolina.
The Tar Heels are being given 30/1 odds to repeat as champions in 2017-18.
Following the top of the class, it’s a logjam. It’s all the evidence you need to understand why billionaires and corporations are willing to give away massive amounts of money to anyone who can manage to produce a perfect bracket at the end of the tournament.
