Martellus Bennett’s affinity for making music is well known. Earlier this year, he released an EP titled “I’m not a rapper but some of my friends are.”
He’s at it again, this time with one of the most legendary of all his friends.
The Packers tight end, and hip hop icon Snoop Dogg collaborated to make a new song titled “Take a Flight.” Bennett is featured a little more on this song than he was on the five track EP he helped produce. This time, there is the unmistakably recognizable voice of the Long Beach legend sandwiched in between Bennett verses.
He posted the song to his Soundcloud:
In the description of the track, Bennett gushes like a true fanboy. His excitement to meeting Snoop Dogg is similar to the way the rest of us likely would have reacted if we got the opportunity to meet one of the greatest of all time.
While in L.A. this summer I ended up at Uncle Snoop’s crib and this is what we ended up creating out of the blue. It wasn’t planned it just happened. If you ever see me out ask me about that day. It was pretty awesome. I did a song with Snoop Dogg WTH!!!!!
After a listen, you’re left with the impression “not bad for a football player.” Is it something that would make you rush out and buy an entire album? Probably not.
But keep in mind he plays football pretty competitively most of the year. If he were able to devote all of his time to his musical pursuits, which may very well be the case after he retires, who knows how good he could become.
