The MTV VMAs were held on Sunday night in Los Angeles, Calif., with music’s best honoring their standout peers. But there was also some political talk, as we’ve come to expect during award shows in a Donald Trump political climate.
One of the off-script comments came from “Bodak Yellow” artist Cardi B, who decided to use her time on the mic to deliver a shoutout to NFL free agent quarterback Colin Kaepernick.
While Kaepernick remains unemployed in what many perceive to be blackballing by NFL owners do to his political stance, Cardi B let him know that he has support.
“Colin Kaepernick, as long as you kneel for us, we’ll stand with you, baby,” she said.
Kaepernick retweeted a video of the moment.

Whether Kaepernick ends up back in the NFL this season remains to be seen, but the support he has from people across the country is only continuing to grow.
