Cam Newton's Brother Leads Howard To Historic Upset Over UNLV

On Saturday night, Howard quarterback Caylin Newton, the younger brother of NFL star Cam Newton, led the Bison to a win over the UNLV Rebels that will go down in college football history.
Howard came away with a 43-40 victory, after entering the game as a 45-point underdog.
According to RJ Bell of Pregame.com, the Bison’s win over UNLV is now the largest point-spread upset ever. The previous record was set when Stanford upset USC in 2007 as a 41-point dog.
Just how big was the upset in the eyes of Vegas? A $100 bet on the moneyline for Howard to beat UNLV outright would have landed you a serious payday.

A big part of Howard’s success was the production by Newton under center.
Newton finished the game with 140 yards through the air, one touchdown and an interception. With his feet, Newton added 190 yards and two scores. What a way to kick off the season.
Howard returns to action next season by making a trip to Ohio to take on the Kent State Golden Flashes. Kickoff is set for 3:30 p.m. ET on ESPN3 at Dix Stadium.
