Cleveland Browns rookie Myles Garrett’s regular season debut could be delayed for multiple weeks.
On Wednesday, Mary Kay Cabot of Cleveland.com reported Garrett is set to undergo further evaluation on his ankle which was injured during Wednesday’s practice.
According to the report, the Browns are “worried the injury could sideline him for weeks.”
Garrett was expected to be an immediate contributor for Cleveland after being selected with the No. 1 overall pick in the draft, but now there is no word on when he will even be returning to the field.
This is just the latest setback for Garrett, who was dealing with a foot injury throughout the summer.
If he is unable to go on Sunday, Nate Orchard and Carl Nassib will be next in line.
Cleveland opens the season against the division rival Pittsburgh Steelers at home. Kickoff at FirstEnergy Stadium is set for 1:00 p.m. ET on CBS.
