Florida football fans will have a new way to support head coach Jim McElwain this weekend when the Gators welcome the rival Tennessee Volunteers to Gainesville on Saturday night.
McElwain has spent years enjoying his hobby of making barbecue sauces, but now it is finally set to go on sale.
According to Pat Dooley of The Gainesville Sun, McElwain’s barbecue sauce will be available “at selected concession stands during the Florida-Tennessee game and will soon be marketed at Gainesville stores with an eye toward expansion statewide and nationwide.”
McElwain has been making his sauces since 1988, altering the recipe to include ingredients and flavors of the new areas he would coach in.
The sauce that is that will be avaliable on Saturday is named “Momb3.” It is a tribute to his mother, as is evidenced by the beginning of the name, with the “3” representing McElwain’s children.
“When I think of the sauce I think of friends and family and being in a good place,” McElwain said. “There’s a lot of love in that sauce.”
If you’re at the stadium on Saturday, be on the lookout for the special sauce.
Kickoff between the Gators and Vols is set for 3:30 p.m. ET at Ben Hill Griffin. The game will air on CBS as the SEC Game of the Week.
