One USC football fan is already looking forward to star quarterback Sam Darnold’s NFL career.
During Saturday’s game between the Trojans and rival Cal in Berkeley, ESPN cameras panned to one of the USC faithful at California Memorial Stadium who was proudly showing off a jersey.
The jersey featured Darnold’s name and number on the back of a New York Jets jersey.
A little premature? Sure, but what else do you expect fans to do?

Darnold is one of the top quarterbacks in the 2018 NFL Draft class and is viewed as a potential top five pick. The Jets, meanwhile, well, they’re the Jets. And they’ll probably be picking near the top of the draft order.
If Darnold ends up going to New York, this fan will be the first to own the quarterback’s new jersey. If Darnold heads elsewhere, at least it wasn’t a tattoo.
