Singer Jordin Sparks performed the national anthem ahead of tonight’s Monday Night Football game between the Dallas Cowboys and Arizona Cardinals.
Both teams were standing on their sidelines with hands interlocked as a sign of unity, but that wasn’t the only powerful message that was sent.
As cameras zoomed in on Sparks, who is a Phoenix native and the daughter of PJ Sparks, Jr. who played college football at Arizona Christian University, during his rendition, a Bible verse could be seen written on her hand.
“PROV 31:8-9,” it read.
Here is a close look at the subtle message:

So, what does the Bible verse state?

Speak up for those who cannot speak for themselves, for the rights of all who are destitute. Speak up and judge fairly; defend the rights of the poor and needy.

It doesn’t get much clearer than that.
While Sparks didn’t want to distract from the national anthem in an over the top way, she was able to deliver a strong message loud and clear to those watching back home. Well done, Jordin Sparks.
