It’s all fun and games until you get Goldy the Gopher on the field. That’s when children start getting steamrolled into the turf.
As part of a charity football game during the Minnesota Vikings vs. The Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Sunday, Goldy took the handoff and was determined to score.
Even if it came at the expense of punishing a young child who was standing between him and the end zone.
The broken tackle is reminiscent of what the video-game version of Bo Jackson used to do to would-be defenders.

.@LT_21 is mad about @GoldytheGopher trucking a kid, challenges Goldy to get him next (and works in Mike Gundy reference) pic.twitter.com/mxjIZUn7LP

The charity event was supposed to be all in good fun, but many felt Goldy was taking the game a little too seriously. When you’re playing against kids, the public generally expects you to fall on your sword and let all the kids get their moment to shine.
Could Goldy pretended to be on the receiving end of a big hit instead of destroying the spirit of a child? Absolutely.
That wouldn’t be nearly as fun to watch though.
