For the first time since being placed on unpaid administrative leave, Louisville basketball coach (for now) Rick Pitino has commented on what it’s going to be like to be away from his team as they take the court for the first practice of the season on Saturday.
As you would expect, Pitino, who has been leading the Cardinals since March of 2001, is going to miss being on the court with his team.
Terry Meiners of WHAS shared a text message from Pitino on social media with the brief comments.
Pitino is expected to be fired after a 10-day clause in his contract is up.

Assistant coach David Padgett is expected to take over as interim head coach for the upcoming season.
The Cardinals will enter this season with high expectations, but with the loss of Pitino — and potentially the loss of five-star recruit Brian Bowen, who allegedly received $100,000 to commit to Louisville — could leave the team with an unexpected uphill battle and plenty of off-court distractions.
